New SF1 off the track

Recently the prototype of our new Formula 1 Carbon Helmet SF1 was the star in a fairly another type of photo shoot. We think it also looks awesome off the track. But please get an idea of it yourself!

On Thursday, Fernando Alonso celebrated his 29th Birthday at the Hungaroring in Budapest. Our Schuberth Racing Service gave a small gift to the Spanish Formula 1 World Champion. My colleague Sven handed the gift to Fernando Alonso on Thursday morning in his Ferrari motorhome. The new Schuberth C3 flip-up helmet in original Formula 1 Design was painted by Uffe. The Finnish helmet designer gave him the painted design on the C3 as a present.

Our Spanish driver was so pleased that he wanted to try the helmet even in the first practice session on Friday. And on his Ducati. It looks like we have made somebody happy. Here are the photos of the helmet:

The Ferrari Pit-Crew helmet

Schuberth has been developing and producing Formula 1 helmets since 1999. The first Schuberth helmet was introduced into the Formula 1 during the Grand Prix Monaco in 2000.

Since 2003 Schuberth has been the official partner of Scuderia Ferrari. In addition to the drivers’ helmets we also manufacture the Ferrari pit-crew helmets. Further developed from our motorcycle helmets, the pit-crew helmets were equipped with a special protection in the chin area.

And today we have taken the opportunity to have a look over our colleague’s shoulder while assembling such a pit-crew helmet.

After the crew has practiced dozens of pit-stops, there is nothing that could go wrong.

The F1 helmet and its follow-up model in Jerez and Barcelona

The Formula 1 racing season officially begins on 13^th March 2010 with the first race of the season in Bahrain. Prior to that on 2 weekends the teams have already tested their new bolides: first on 10^th February in Jerez and from 25^th to 28^th February in Barcelona.

On board are our drivers Fernando Alonso, Michael Schumacher, Nico Huelkenberg, Nico Rossberg and Felipe Massa.

While the crews use the opportunity to optimize the last details of their racing cars, we use the time to test the latest development stage of our Formula 1 helmet under real conditions.

Pictures of Michael Schumacher with our black prototype of the Schuberth SF have already led to a lot of speculations on the internet amongst the Formula 1 fans. For this reason we want to provide some additional information:

In use are currently our two models RF1.7 and RF1.8 – the only difference is the size of the helmet shell.

Currently Michael Schumacher and Felipe Massa are wearing the smaller helmet shell (RF1.8) whereas Fernando Alonso, Nico Rosberg and Nico Huelkenberg are using the bigger shell (RF1.7).

The already last year presented prototype SF1 will be constantly tested during the next months and will be further optimized following the driver’s requirements. Here the modified ventilation system is hardly to be overlooked.

At present the RF1 delivers 7 litres fresh air per second. A detailed description of the assembling and production of a Formula 1 helmet can be found on our website: www.schuberth.com/formula-1
