Do Women Really Need Special Helmets?

The Schuberth C3W, Fit for Women

Schuberth is the only helmet manufacturer offering motorcycle helmets specially fitted for a woman’s unique head and facial structure. What might seem like a clever marketing tactic to some is actually providing a premium level of comfort and enhanced safety for women riders and passengers.

Many women have difficulty finding helmets small enough to fit, sometimes resorting to cheap, ill-fittng children’s helmets which are not designed for the adult anatomy. The C3 Pro Women can be sized down to an XXS (50cm) and the C3W is available for purchase down to XXS. Helmet fit is critical for comfort and safety and a woman should wear a helmet that fits without ‘snugging it up’ with a scarf or beanie underneath.

Another common problem is that a helmet that fits the crown of the head is too loose in the face area and moves around as helmets are not supposed to do. This is because women typically have a higher, more prominent cheekbone and narrower jaw. Schuberth’s C3 Pro Women and C3W have a specially contoured fit in the cheekpads to accommodate this female facial structure.

Studies* show that men have greater neck muscle strength than women, so women are particularly sensitive to helmet weight. Many women express relief when trying Schuberth helmets because of their lightweight and compact construction. In fact, the C3 Pro Women and C3W helmets are the lightest flip-up helmets available.

So whether you are a woman rider, passenger, or a man with a female passenger, we hope this information will help with your helmet shopping. Of course the women’s helmets, just like women’s gear, don’t necessarily fit 100% of women better than standard helmets, but it’s certainly worth looking into when trying to find the best, safest fitting helmet for yourself or your loved one.

NEW: The C3 PRO & C3 PRO WOMEN

The First High Speed Flip-Up Helmet with Internal Antenna

Schuberth C3 PROAerodynamics – Rear spoiler adds 8% additional downforce for greater stability at higher speeds

Aeroacoustics – Reduced noise measured at 82 dba – Schuberth’s quietest flip-up helmet ever

Ventilation – New vent scoop increases airflow to over 8 liters per second

Comfort – New plush liner materials enhance comfort and fit

Communications – Internal dual band antenna improves SRCS wireless connectivity

Light, quiet, compact – these features have characterized the Schuberth C3 flip-up helmet for years. Now Schuberth is presenting a completely updated premium partner to the base model C3 – the C3 PRO. The C3 PRO features a molded rear spoiler developed in the Schuberth wind tunnel for minimizing buffeting at higher speed riding. The internal antenna and Bluetooth® receiver enhance the communication range up to 700 meters and FM radio reception for the Schuberth Rider Communication System. The refined inner lining offers a plush, comfortable fit. The new vent scoop boosts airflow through the helmet to over 8 liters of air per second at 100 km/h. With a wind tunnel tested sound rating of just 82 dB(A), the C3 PRO is the quietest Schuberth helmet ever. The C3 PRO (and female fit C3 PRO WOMEN) flip-up helmet features over 20 additional enhancements and will be available this spring.

C3 PRO WOMEN
Based on additional research, the C3 PRO WOMEN is specially fitted for a woman’s facial structure, featuring a special contour and materials in the cheek pads to better fit a woman’s higher cheek bones,  narrower jaw and smaller facial features.

Schuberth Rider Communication System for the C3 PRO
The easy-to-install, fully integrated Schuberth Rider Communication System (SRCS C3 PRO) plugs into the C3 PRO’s internal antenna for improved FM radio reception and pairing distance of up to 700 meters.

(Note: The SRCS C3 will fit into the C3 PRO and will function normally, but since it does not plug into the helmet’s antenna, it will not offer the improved reception that can be expected from the new SRCS C3 PRO.  The SRCS C3 PRO does not offer backward compatibility to the C3.  While it will physically fit, there is no internal antenna, so Bluetooth connectivity and radio reception are not possible.)

Soccer and formula1

In Montreal, Canada we had some special gifts for our drivers to use. All of them are really into soccer and so we gave them something to celebrate with their national teams:

all drivers tear-off visor shields “special soccer edition”

The Massa-Brazil version

The Alonso-Spain version

The Schumacher – Germany version (should have posted this one earlier, so they could have won the 2nd match against Serbia…)

News from the north-american continent

Especially for our north-american readers we have two new stories that might be of interest:

Indy Grand Prix of Alabama – 1st Schuberth helmet in the US series.

As presented earlier Bertrand Baguette is one of our new race drivers and he did his debut at the IZOD indycar series last weekend at Barber Motorsports Park with our helmet – so this is our entry into the american race scene.

(Bertrand drives at Conquest Racing Team )

(the full picture of Bertrands helmet is here)

New canadian retailer added to dealer network

For all our canadian customers there´s is now a place to go. We cooperate with a québécois retailer. Please keep in mind that he will only sell ECE-certified helmets and there won´t be any DOT-certified helmets available. Be sure to check your states law if a DOT certification is needed where you live before buying and riding.

As for now the ECE-standard is accepted in Quebec, British Colombia and Newfoundland/Labrador .

Please also be aware that an Ontario court rejected religious exemption to motorcycle helmet law (as can be read here) ;-)

Judge Blacklock was told that, in order to disprove a Crown theory that turbans unravel at high speed and cause accidents, Mr. Badesha drove around Cayuga Speedway at 110 kilometres an hour (unfortunatley no photo available).
