# 3 Did you know… A.R.O.S.

that all Schuberth helmets are equipped with the additional safety feature A.R.O.S.?
AROS is the abbreviation of Anti Roll-Off-System. The system consists out of 2 additional safety strips which fixes the chin strips to the rear side of the helmet shell.

The A.R.O.S. ensures that in case of an accident the helmet cannot pivot of the head from behind. Beside this the system minimize the risk of a contact between the chin section of the helmet and the chin or throat of the rider. It also reduces the consequences of the helmet coming in contact with the chest of the driver.

We test the safety characteristics of A.R.O.S. in our testlab on a regular basis. The test is done with a helmet fixed on an according test set. It is then coupled to a 10kg weigth via a deflection roller. The ECE-Standard specifies the weight to be dropped from 75cm height which pulls the helmet abruptly forward.

According to ECE-standard the helmet is allowed to pivot a maximum of 30degrees. Thanks to the AROS the Schuberth helmets pass this test with a maximum of 17 degrees – in the case you see in the picture we even reached 15 degrees.

Now Schuberth is presenting a completely updated premium partner to the base model C3 – the C3 PRO. The C3 PRO features a molded rear spoiler developed in the Schuberth wind tunnel for minimizing buffeting at higher speed riding. The internal antenna and Bluetooth® receiver enhance the communication range up to 700 meters and FM radio reception for the Schuberth Rider Communication System. The refined inner lining offers a plush, comfortable fit. The new vent scoop boosts airflow through the helmet to over 8 liters of air per second at 100 km/h. With a wind tunnel tested sound rating of just 82 dB(A), the C3 PRO is the quietest Schuberth helmet ever. The C3 PRO (and female fit C3 PRO WOMEN) flip-up helmet features over 20 additional enhancements and will be available this spring.

C3 PRO WOMEN
Based on additional research, the C3 PRO WOMEN is specially fitted for a woman’s facial structure, featuring a special contour and materials in the cheek pads to better fit a woman’s higher cheek bones, narrower jaw and smaller facial features.

Schuberth Rider Communication System for the C3 PRO
The easy-to-install, fully integrated Schuberth Rider Communication System (SRCS C3 PRO) plugs into the C3 PRO’s internal antenna for improved FM radio reception and pairing distance of up to 700 meters.

(Note: The SRCS C3 will fit into the C3 PRO and will function normally, but since it does not plug into the helmet’s antenna, it will not offer the improved reception that can be expected from the new SRCS C3 PRO. The SRCS C3 PRO does not offer backward compatibility to the C3. While it will physically fit, there is no internal antenna, so Bluetooth connectivity and radio reception are not possible.)

… the ventilation of Schuberth helmets can be adjusted to summer and winter positions?

Dear Schuberth friends,

in 2013 we´re going to post about interesting background information on Schuberth, our products and motorcycling in general on a regular basis.

According to the season, at least in central Europe, we`d like to start the new series “Did you know…?” with the winter option of our helmets. We know many of you are driving the motorcycle even during the winter season as long as the traffic conditions are good enough. And for this the ventilation of the Schuberth helmets C3 Pro, C3 and S2 can also be adjusted to suit the colder season.

Please take a look to the front part of the crown liner and you’ll discover fabric flaps behind the front section.

In the colder season you can reduce the volume of incoming cold air, or divert it, by covering the ventilation channels with the flaps of the crown liner.

By doing this little trick you can use the top ventilation even during the winter without having the cold air flow directly onto your head.

In addition to this we recommend wearing safety vest during the dark season for higher visibility. Have a safe trip!

Get ready for the motorsports season 2012

The 2012 motor sport season is well underway all over Europe. We have expanded our involvement in professional racing further throughout Europe and into the United States. We recently launched our SR1 race helmet and have taken our first steps in the professional motorcycle racing arena.

This year, we are pleased to have recruited the experienced Honda factory rider Arne Tode as a new test rider for Schuberth in the IDM. Rico Penzkofer (Team Penz13) has also joined our team as an official test rider. He will start in the IDM and will also compete in the Isle of Man TT (25 May to 8 June), possibly the most gruelling street race in the world. We are already looking forward to the first pictures from this spectacle on 2 wheels.

Stefan Nebel, KTM factory rider and Schuberth test rider since 2011, will take the SR1 onto US soil for the first time; his U.S. debut will be in the highest level American motorcycle division, AMA Pro Superbike. Best of luck, Stefan!

We are particularly pleased about the success of our French SR1 rider Erwan Nigon, who is racing in the IDM for the first time with BMW and has managed to finish in first place twice already. Toutes nos félicitations, Erwan!

All in all, 23 SR1 riders are going to the start in countries throughout Europe, including France, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden and Ireland.

Seventh time in a row: Schuberth became Best Brand 2012

SR1: Test-Champion at PS-Magazine

Today we´re very proud to announce that the Sr1 is Test-Champion of the PS-Magazine Sportshelmet-Test. (PS-Magazin 03/2012).

The Editors did invite several competitors at the end of last year and the results have been published now: The Schuberth SR1 finished at 1st place.

With 17 of 20 possible points in the category “shock absorption” it is also one of the safest helmet in the test.
And with 10 out of 10 possible points it offers the best ventilation of all helmets.

“The Schuberth is exemplary with full points in the category “ventilation”. It´s Air-intakes at the top and it´s chin-ventilation is excellent” (Source: PS-Magazine).

Filip Backlund and his new SR1 at Austria, Red Bull Ring

This weekend we vistited Filip Backlund at the IDM Race in Salzburg, Red Bull Ring. Filip is a very promising young driver from Sweden where he won the Swedish Superbike 2009 and now entered the IDM for several races. He did visit us earlier this year in Germany and had his helmet customized for him.

After finalizing the helmet with his personal design we took the helmet to Austria:

Alonsos Birthday Helmet 2011

This year we prepared a new helmet for Fernando Alonso´s 30th Birthday on 29th of July.

As he´s a real Motorbike and Ducati-Fan (he´s driving a custom-made Desmosedici RR) we provided him with a custom-made Schuberth SR1 at the Race in Hungary.

Here are the pictures of the red SR1 and we hope some more pictures on the track will follow ! Congratulations to making 3rd in Budapest and Happy Birthday !
